coacervo.co is run by Daniel Marsh-Patrick through Coacervo Limited, a New Zealand company. This page explains what information the site collects and how you can control it.

Analytics, only if you allow it

On your first visit, the site asks whether it can use analytics cookies. Until you choose Allow, nothing is sent to Google and no analytics cookies are set.

If you allow it, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are useful. Google Analytics then records:

  • the pages you view and how long you stay
  • how you arrived, for example from a search engine or another site
  • your approximate location (country and city), worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store IP addresses.
  • your device type, browser and screen size
  • interactions such as scrolling, following links to other sites and downloading files

It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_FC79ZH8EXR, which last up to two years. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, so this information isn't used for advertising, and the site uses no other tracking or advertising tools. Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months.

Google processes this information for coacervo and may do so outside New Zealand, including in the United States. Google explains how in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

You can change your choice at any time with Analytics settings in the site footer. If you withdraw consent, the site deletes its analytics cookies.

What your browser remembers

The site keeps two small settings in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme, and your analytics choice. They stay on your device.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses to keep its service secure, as described in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

Embedded content

A few posts embed YouTube videos or Power BI reports. When those load, YouTube and Microsoft may set their own cookies and collect information under their own privacy policies.

Email

If you email daniel@coacervo.co, your address and message are used to reply to you and aren't shared with anyone else.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information coacervo holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and, where they apply to you, laws such as the GDPR. Email daniel@coacervo.co.
